PERMA is an acronym used in positive psychology to represent the five elements of well-being and happiness: Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, and Accomplishment.

Each element represents a key component of a fulfilling and meaningful life, and together they form a comprehensive framework for promoting well-being and happiness.

  1. Positive Emotion refers to experiencing positive emotions such as joy, love, and gratitude.

  2. Engagement refers to being fully engaged and immersed in activities that are enjoyable and fulfilling, such as hobbies or work.

  3. Relationships refer to the importance of positive social connections and relationships with others.

  4. Meaning refers to having a sense of purpose and significance in one's life.

  5. Accomplishment refers to the sense of achievement and mastery that comes from setting and achieving goals.

By focusing on each of these elements and finding ways to cultivate them in our lives, we can improve our overall well-being and lead happier and more fulfilling lives. The PERMA model has been widely used in positive psychology research and practice as a guide for promoting well-being and happiness.
