Why Easter Follows the Moon: The History of Easter 🌕
Easter started a very long time ago, and it follows the moon for a reason.
It comes from the story of Jesus. After he died, his followers said he came back to life. They wanted to remember this every year.

Jesus died during Passover. Passover is a very old Jewish celebration. It remembers when the Jewish people left Egypt to be free. It follows a lunar calendar, so it always happens during a full moon in spring.

Because of this, early Christians connected Easter to the same time.

Important leaders helped organize this. One of them was Saint Peter. He was one of Jesus’ closest friends and later became a leader of the first Christians in Rome.

Later, Church leaders created a rule: Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon of spring.
That is why the date changes every year. It follows the moon, just like Passover.
Before Christianity, people in Europe already had spring festivals. They celebrated new life, flowers, and the sun. These ideas mixed with Easter.
That is why we have eggs and the bunny. Eggs mean new life, and the bunny is a symbol of life.
